That stinks! I hope the thief is caught, if for no other reason than to find out how they pilfered something that is so gigantic!
ReplyDeleteIt's not like you can slide it underneath your stack of quarter bin Richie Rich comics.
Chances are someone picked those things up by accident. It's an honest mistake anyone could make. They probably didn't even notice they had them in their hand.
ReplyDeleteI imagine some self-appointed 'Robin Hood of comics' pilfering these, then handing them out to a couple of beggar children outside the expo's walls.

The two beggar children tug on the self-appointed Robin Hood of comics' cosplay cape, handing him back the two large tomes.
"These ain't comics, mister," one of them says in that adorable British lisp all beggar children have had since the advent of Oliver.
"Comics is funny," the other says, his large blue eyes wet with tears of disillusion and disappointment.
Charlton Heston was seen outside the con in a robe and fake beard smashing the two tomes in front of a small group of jaded Jews.

ReplyDeleteSeems to me they'd fit perfectly under some boxes underneath another vendor's table. Hope you get to the truth of this Alvin. It totally blows.
ReplyDeleteThere was definitely some theft going on--someone stole a camera that was resting on the floor of the upper level. It might have been someone who had come in and was charging his electronics--we and the people on either side of us thought he was part of the other table, so we didn't question his presence in the large gap between us. (I don't suppose there was a guy with a motorcycle helmet and a messenger bag lingering near your table?) But it could have been anyone--so many people, and it's such a great, mellow event that your guard is really down. :/
